THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES!!!!!!!!!!

"The Struggle continues!" Isn’t that the truth? Hello to everyone who happens to be reading my first post on my new blog.  African Americans have been faced with constant struggle for as long as history can tell us.  It seems as if, as soon as we overcome one obstacle, two more pop up to replace it. The poster above, created by Ashley Humienny, demonstrates how smart and strong we black people really are. Although we are faced with racism, oppression and a number of other things that some other races probably couldn't deal with on a daily basis, we are able to over come every struggle that happens to come our way. Sometimes, we may even have to find different ways to conquer our problems because our initial plan did not have the outcome we desired.  None the less, we always push on through.  In this poster, there is a black man who, in my opinion, resembles Hercules. For all of those who do not know Hercules, he was a Demigod who protected the earth from the evil monsters sent from the underworld (according to the Disney version).  There is a scene in the Disney adaptation that gives a strong representation of the meaning "The struggle continues".  In the scene, Hercules happened to be fighting a three headed dragon, just like in the poster.  He thought the solution was to cut off all three of the dragons heads off, but that was not the case.  As soon as he cut those heads off, six more grew back. Do you see the connection?  Those three dragon heads represent the different problems African American face thru out our lives.  Once we THINK we have defeated these few problems, six more appear. Knowing that attaching the dragons head on would not fix anything, Hercules had to find an alternative way to defeat the dragon.  Although defeating those dragons was hard work, he never gave up because he knew the outcome was worth it. Even though the battle seemed to never end, Black Hercules fought those dragons head on, without any fear in his eyes, determined to defeat them. After looking through each poster carefully and thinking about the connection they had with the theme, this poster in particular grabbed my attention. Black Hercules is a grate representation of how strong and determined us black people are by demonstrating the bravery that we have in our hearts. We don’t back down when times get tough but instead, we keep fighting.
